I recently found this picture of me taken at the Jubilee in 1977. I am wearing a 1950's dress owned by my mum. I had a net petticoat underneath to make the skirt part stick out, 1950's Silver high heel shoes and a pair of 50s sunglasses. I also attached a pink chiffon scarf to my school belt for a splash of extra colour. I was always dressing up! (haven't changed either).

1977 was such an exciting year for me as a 14 year old. It was the year I discovered vintage clothes and dressing up in something different. It was also the year of Punk! My brother Daniel was a drummer in a punk band who regularly gigged so I got to go to see many bands within that year. The Clash, the Police, The Jam, Stranglers, Ian Dury, Elvis Costello, Tom Petty, Ramones, and more that I can hardly remember.

I recently dug out this very same dress and got my daughter to put it on so I could see what she looked like in it. This time you get to see it in full colour (below). Such a lovely design and the cut of the dress is divine. Funnily enough I happen to have yet another 1950's dress lined up for this weekend (with thanks to my mum and her fab collection of vintage clothes).

Have fun in what ever you this weekend.
